The large green turban snail is distributed from the east coast of Africa to Australia in the tropical Indo-Pacific Ocean. It is the largest of its kind, but such large specimens are rarely caught. The heavy cases have a thick layer of mother-of-pearl and their large opercules were formerly sold as doorstops or paperweights.
