Two pits for the extraction of special sealing clay have been sporadically operated for a long time near Friedland in Mecklenburg. These Eocene deposits rarely contain these fantastic pyrite-impregnated phosphorite concretions along with some marine fossils. Their scientific interpretation as coprolites seems questionable, but formation in connection with organic remains is probable.
