Semicassis undulata, known as the Mediterranean helmet snail (English: Mediterranean Bonnet), was first described by Gmelin in 1791 and belongs to the family of the Cassidae and the under-family Phaliinae. This snail is widespread in the waters of the Mediterranean and in the Atlantic in front of Northwest Africa and the Macaronesian islands. The cassidae family comprises around 60 species that occur in tropical and moderate sea areas. Semicassis Usulata lives as a Demersalle snail in depths of up to 100 meters on sandy sea floors.
