The cephalopod Nautilus pompilius lives on the steep slopes of Pacific coral reefs, from Japan in the north to Australia in the south and from the Andaman Islands in the west to the Fiji Islands in the east. With its approximately 90 tentacles, it mainly catches small crustaceans, which it crushes with its hard beak. The white shell of this sea creature, with its characteristic spiral structure and striking pattern, makes it a fascinating creature of the deeper regions of the sea.
