Meocardia Moltkiana was first described by Gmelin in 1791 and belongs to the family of the Glossidae (German: tongue mussels). This shell, also known as a moltkes heart shell (English: Moltke’s Heart Clam), reaches a housing length of up to 6 cm and is characterized by its symmetrical, heart -shaped shape. The genus Miocardia currently only includes six recent species (as of 2025). This Benthisches lives in sandy and muddy sea floors at depths of 50 to 400 meters. Their distribution area extends over the western Pacific. An interesting little heart shell from the Indopazificif, the shape of which is actually reminiscent of a heart in their form.
