The Birch Cone Conus betulinus is found in the intertidal zones to depths of 20 meters throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific, from Japan in the north to New Caledonia in the south. Like all of the approximately 700 species of this genus, this predatory living cone snail is able to kill its prey with poison that is also dangerous for humans, which it injects with harpoon-like radula teeth.
