Banksia media is endemic to the south coast of Australia between Albany and Israelite Bay. The bush reaches a height of 4 meters and regenerates itself after bush fires exclusively through the seeds released from the cones. Observations of plants in Fitzgerald National Park show that seedlings take around 10 years to flower, while bushfires in the area are usually between 30 and 60 years apart. Most of the cones we offer also show traces of bush fires on the side facing the wind. This is the only way to open the beautiful golden yellow seed pods.
